Highlights
Each student will participate in a grade level seminar and other school and classroom activities 
which will emphasize the following:

  • Understanding graduation and grade level requirements. 
  • Understanding how grade point and honor point averages are determined. 
  • Knowing their assistant principal and guidance counselor. 
  • Becoming familiar with college entrance requirements, the FL Bright Future Scholarship Program 
  • Understanding the importance of a balanced program of academic, extracurricular activities and  community service. 
  • Updating the student's Academic and Career Planne r
  • Knowing the services of the Guidance Counselors and Occupational Specialist. 
  • Knowing the steps involved in career planning. 
  • Reviewing "Tips For Success In High School".

  • Knowing the educational options for grade 11. 
  • Reviewing the college entrance requirements. 
  • Reviewing the Florida Bright Future  Scholarship Program. 
  • Being aware of career and post secondary  opportunities after graduation. 
  • Taking a group career assessment.
  • Taking the P.S.A.T. for practice (college  bound student). 
  • Updating the student's Academic and Career  Planner. 
  • Stressing the importance of community  service.

  • Knowing the educational options for grade 12.
  • Reviewing the college entrance requirement. 
  • Reviewing the Gold Seal and FL Academic Scholars Program. 
  • Stressing the importance of community service. 
  • Taking an individual career assessment in the Career Resource Center. 
  • Taking the ASVAB (Armed Service Vocational Aptitude Battery) for career planning. 
  • Taking the PSAT for scholarship opportunities and SAT preparation. 
  • Taking the SAT I, SAT II and ACT if college bound. 
  • Attending college and career seminars held in the Career Resource Center. 
  • Exploring for post secondary education opportunities.
  • Writing a resume or activity sheet to use with scholarship, college and job applications. 
  • Attending the county College and Career Night and Job Fair. 
  • Visiting potential colleges and educational institutions. 
  • Requesting letters of reference (end of Junior year). 
  • Writing college application letters using the Career Center's Software (end of Junior year).
  • Updating the student's Academic and Career Planner .

  • Taking the SAT I, SAT II and ACT if college bound. (Early in the year) 
  • Applying for college or other educational institutions. 
  • Speaking with military, college and technical school representatives. 
  • Attending College and Career Night and Job Fair.
  • Applying for Financial Aid and Scholarships.
  • Updating resume and letters of reference for job, scholarship and college/tech applications. 
  • Making final decisions and notifying institutions/employers/military. 
  • Finalizing the student's Academic and Career Planner
