South Grade was originally built in 1926. South Grade was an elementary school until the early 1980's. Then becoming an alternative education high school which closed in 1988. The school was left empty until the county renovated the inside of the original building and added two more buildings in the 1990's. The original placard is in front to the right of the stairs mounted on the side of the building.
South Grade was known as the home of the Surfers during its original life and has again become the home of the Surfers .
