FS-4 Whispering Pines Elementary School Project Modification

Description

This Project Modification contains the following item:

Item #1

  • Change Order Proposal Request (COPR) #6 in the amount of $3,985.00
  • Description:  Install intercom call buttons in the media center and cafeteria.
  • Cause:  Design Omission
  • Justification:  The existing intercom call buttons were eliminated during the interior demolition of the media center and cafeteria.  The design documents did now show new call buttons in the expanded cafeteria and renovated media center.

Item #2

  • Change Order Proposal Request (COPR) #7 in the credit amount of $55,034.00
  • Description: Unused Allowance Reconciliation
    • Electrical Devices ($44,002)
    • Brick Work ($60)
    • Asphalt & Concrete Patching ($10,972)
  • Cause: School District Requested
  • Justification: The Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) and Change Order #1 included Allowances. Allowances are billed at actual cost. The difference between the Allowance amounts in the GMP and Change Order, and the actual Allowance expenses are returned to the District.


Recommendation

I recommend the School Board approve Project Modifications in the credit amount of $51,049.00 to James B. Pirtle Construction Company, Inc. for the Whispering Pines Elementary School Core & Addition Project #1781 8434, and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to finalize and execute all related contract documents.

Financial Impact

The financial impact is a decrease in the amount of $51,049.00 to the James B. Pirtle Construction Company Agreement.  The funds will be returned to the project budget.
