Agenda Item #38 Title CS1 - Seventh Amendment for Palm Beach Maritime Academy Description The School Board of Palm Beach County, Florida ("School Board") and Palm Beach Maritime Academy ("PB Maritime"), entered into an Agreement on July 28, 1999; and then a Third Amendment extending the charter from five years to ten years, on March 14, 2002, and ending June 30, 2012. Currently, PB Maritime serves grades K-8. On May 17, 2009, staff received written communication from the Governing Board Chairman, together with copies of Governing Board Minutes (see Exhibit "A"), requesting to expand their enrollment from the current 500 to 800 students. Information requested by the District for sections on Facilities and Budget has been supplied by PB Maritime and "Meets the Standard" (see Exhibit "B"). The Seventh Amendment to the Charter Agreement between the School Board and PB Maritime is attached (see Exhibit "C"). Data Panels are attached (see Exhibit "D"). PB Maritime has met AYP and earned a grade "A" for FY10. Copies of the PB Maritime Contract and Third Amendment are on file in the Board Office for your review. Recommendation I recommend that the School Board approve the Seventh Amendment to expand the enrollment from the current 500 to 800 students to the Palm Beach Maritime Academy Charter School.
