Dr. Blanton opened the session and clarified how the short-listing process will take place.
Mrs. Wong explained to Board Members the steps that will be used in the ballot tallying process.
Board Members had opened discussion regarding the candidates: qualifications; background; student achievement; closing the socio-economic gap; reasons why they left their previous position; Superintendent experience; engaging stack holders; small vs. large districts; buy-outs; and DROP.
Dr. Blanton entertained questions from Board Members and summarized his research on the candidates.
The first set of ballots were handed out and the top two candidates were Constance Jones and Tom Watkins.
The second set of ballots were handed out and the top candidate was Janis Andrews.
The third set of ballots were handed out and the top candidate was James Browder.
The four top candidates that will be interviewed are Janis Andrews, James Browder, Constance Jones and Tom Watkins.
Mr. Barbieri summarized the two scenario's for the Superintendent interviews.
Mrs. Brill questioned why the interviews are scheduled to occur over a two week period and would like to revise the schedule to have all interviews in one week.
Mrs. Brown agreed with Mrs. Brill and suggested one community "Meet and Greet" in the Board Room and one community "Meet and Greet" in the Glades, increase the number of days the candidates are in town by one and each Board Member be given an hour and half interview with each candidate.
Board Members were in consensus to allow one hour and 15 minutes for each formal interview.
Mrs. Brill questioned the number of formal questions to accommodate the targeted questions based on the information they received. Board Members were in consensus that they would ask seven questions.
Board Members were in consensus to schedule the formal interviews and community "Meet and Greet" the week of 2/6/12. The formal interview will begin on 2/8/12 at 12:30 p.m.
