Employment Clearance
The AEC is a Palm Beach County public school. All
Palm Beach County School Employees must be cleared through the district
office on
Forest Hill Boulevard. The clearing process includes
finger printing, certification and other required documentation and processes.
Part-time Vacancies
Part-time positions are filled
on an as-need-basis. These positions include temporary substitute work.
Full-time vacancies rarely occur. When they are available, they are advertised
with the school
board. Please see the employment
page with the PBCSD for a full listing of
district wide vacancies.

We are the only full-time Palm Beach County school for
adults. Known as The AEC, we are a non-profit, public
institution with the largest GED and ESOL programs in the county. Mr. Rick Swearingen is the principal and we can be

Our Purpose
The purpose of the
Adult Education Center is to change lives through education by helping
individuals to reach their full potential. In an ongoing effort to facilitate
learning, we equip
adult students, ages 16 years and older, with the knowledge, attitudes
and skills that are essential for personal and
intellectual development. Our goals include responsible citizenship and
productive employment.
Registration Information
When registering for ESOL or GED classes, we can accept
any valid photo ID. These sources of identification include the following:
Florida ID, Florida Driver's License, Passport, Permanent Resident Card,
Work Authorization Card, Alien Registration Foreign Embassy ID or
a valid
Palm Beach County School ID.

In order to take the actual GED examination or a GED
pretest, the student must provide as identification either a
Florida Driver's License or an Official Florida ID.

2161 North Military Trail, north of Okeechobee Boulevard in
West Palm Beach, Florida. AEC has morning, afternoon, and evening classes
with open registration

Our Focus
The Adult Education
Center is a performance-based school. Attendance is voluntary. The student
population is comprised of approximately 2,000 adults. It is a diverse
ethnic, multicultural
and mobile population. New students take diagnostic tests
before entering classes. The focus of all classes is effective student
involvement in meaningful activities at an appropriate learning level.
Ongoing assessments help monitor each
student's progress toward completion, certification and
promotion from high school and the attainment of a GED.Mission Statement
