INTRODUCTION:
Dwyer High School purchased, through the Technology
Committee, a Kodak ™ DP900 Digital Projector.
This high quality, light weight unit provides a bright and clear
projected image of a computer screen onto a screen or wall. With care and
proper handling, this somewhat delicate and expensive unit should serve our
faculty for many years.
SAFETY CONCERNS:
1. Don’t look directly into the lens
when the projector is turned on.
2. The projector
lamp bulb is pressurized and may rupture after more than 1,000 hours of
use. Always change the bulb as soon as
you notice a decrease in brightness.
CAUTIONS:
1.
Like
any projection device, the DP900 has a projection bulb that is has a finite
life of something less than 1,000 hours, or about half that of an ordinary
incandescent light bulb.
2.
Moving
the projector while it is on or even after it has just been turned off can
significantly shorten the life span of the bulb
3.
The
projection bulb for this unit has a cost approaching $500
4.
Please
don’t set liquids on the projector.
Spilled liquids will damage the unit.
5.
Please
use the padded protective carry case to protect the unit in transit.
6.
The
projector may suffer damage from being exposed to direct sunlight.
USING THE Kodak™ DP900 DIGITAL PROJECTOR:
1. Remove unit from protective carry
case and place on solid flat surface.
2. Connect the
supplied Cable Hub Connector Cable between the rear of the projector and the
VGA port on a PC or the RGB Video on a Macintosh. (A small adapter, provided in the case) is required between the
Cable Hub Connector Cable and a Macintosh computer.
3. If using a desktop computer, connect
the external monitor to the Cable Hub Connector.
4. If remote
software operation is desired, connect the PS/2 cable between the Cable Hub
Connector and the PS/2 Mouse port of the PC
5. Adjust level or
angle of anticipated projection beam with small release on side of unit. A small elevation foot will drop from the
bottom of the unit.
6. Press the “I” side of the power
switch on the side of the unit to turn on the projector.
Allow
it to go through its initialization procedure.
7. Turn on the
computer. If using a laptop computer,
it may be necessary to toggle the video from the laptop screen to the VGA out
port using the appropriate keystrokes.
8. Focus the image by carefully rotating
the front bezel of the projector lens.
9. To turn the
unit off, press the “0” side of the power switch on the side of the projector
and avoid touching the unit or bumping the support or table until the unit has
fully cooled.
10. Only after the unit has returned to near room temperature
should the connecting cables be removed from the projector and presentation
computer.
11. Replace the unit into the protective carry case with all
accessory cables and return promptly to the Media Center for the use by others.
