In order to meet with a counselor, students and parents must make an appointment. To do so, students may stop by the Guidance Office before, after school or during lunch to make an appointment. Parents and guardians may also contact Mrs. Hamilton and Mrs. Sharkey, guidance secretaries, at 304-1009 to schedule appointments.

For students desiring any type of schedule change, a schedule change form must be completed and returned to the guidance department. Elective schedule changes are not allowed unless the elective has already been taken and passed. For more information, students may contact their counselor.

Seniors Attending College

Seniors, if you are planning to attend college after graduation, now is the time to register for the SAT www.collegeboard.com and/or ACT www.act.org . In addition, seniors should start applying for the colleges of their choice.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled on Tuesday afternoons at 3:00 p.m. in the Media Center. The first date for conferences is Tuesday, September 21. To schedule a conference, parents may contact their student's counselor at 304-1009.

Seniors & Senior Parents:

Please be aware if your student qualifies for Bright Futures Gold Seal Vocational Scholarship the funds CANNOT be used at a 4 year University or College.

Please see below for additional information.

Bright Futures GSV recipient:

You may be funded for up to 100% of your program of study in Career Education Programs.  Technical Degree Education includes:  Associate of Science degrees (AS), Associate of Applied Science degrees (AAS), and College Credit Certificates (CCC).  Career Certificates or Diplomas (also referred to as Postsecondary Adult Vocational/ PSAV) include Career Certificates and Applied Technology Diplomas (ATD).

  • You may be funded for up to 72 semester hours (or 2,160 clock hours) except in the Applied Technology Diploma (ATD) where you are limited to 60 semester hours (or 1,800 clock hours).
  • You may be funded in additional certificates, diplomas, and/or degrees up to the maximum hours of funding allowed.
  • If you finish an ATD and then transfer into another eligible program, you are eligible to be funded up to 72 semester hours (or 2,160 clock hours).
  • You may receive funding in these career education programs up to their Bright Futures maximum hours of funding.

If a course of study is not completed after five academic years, an exception of one year to the renewal timeframe may be granted due to a verifiable illness or other documented emergency reported by the postsecondary institution.

Dual Enrollment Information/Advising Session Dates

All students who are planning to participate in dual enrollment at Palm Beach State College are required to attend an Advisement Session. Students who do not attend a session will not be allowed to register. Parents and students may find additional information at the following web page at the Palm Beach State College's website.
