The cadet staff is organized to provide maximum opportunity to learn and to exercise various leadership roles. As experience and knowledge is gained, it is expected that the cadet will exalt or advance in both rank and position.
However, this organization is like all others in that there are limited leadership positions, so they must be earned. To get promoted, the cadet must work hard to earn the promotion.
The cadet staff is composed of the most experienced and best trained cadets in the corps. The instructor will provide the cadet staff with direction and guidance in managing and training the cadet corps. All cadets must cooperate with and fully support the cadet staff. Failure of any staff officer to aggressively carry out his/her duties will result in removal of that individual from the staff. Staff positions are established at each level of command to perform the committee work of the organization. These positions have titles similar to those used in active Air Force organizations. Additional positions may be created as needed when authorized by the SASI.
Each cadet occupying a position must know his/her job description well and should become familiar with the responsibilities of the other positions. It is important that each cadet know how the squadron and flight is to function and how tasks are divided and related to one another. Group staff meetings are held periodically so that the activities of the Group can be planned, organized, and coordinated. The Group Staff consists of the Commander, Vice Commander, and the officers of the Personnel, Awards and Decorations, Logistics and Public Affairs.
