Q: I have heard that some classes are moving because of the construction project. What is the story on that? A: Our construction project is making steady progress. Over the winter
break, the workers expanded the work area into room 803 and several
adjoining spaces. This has resulted in our moving Mrs. Ellis' and Ms.
Lewis' 4th grade classes into rooms 401 and 402. These rooms are adjoining
so that the teachers and students will still be able to get together
for large group projects. The former occupants of 401 & 402 are
also moving. Ms. Bovenizer and Ms. Siemon are moving to P-20, while
Ms. Millares and Ms. Tafe are moving to P-16. Q: I have noticed a lot of police activity recently near the road which leads to school off of 10th Avenue. Is there anything I should be concerned about? A: In short, no, unless you are a driver who doesn't like to adhere to the law or who disregards the No Parking signs. The police were responding to several complaints about drivers not following the traffic signs limiting access to the back driveway area. Traffic around school has always been heaving during normal drop-off and pick-up times. Our new drop-off, pick-up driveway is longer than our original design, thus allowing for greater curb-side access. We also plan to install and implement a numbered vehicle identification program as part of the school's renovations and improvements. Se suggest that drivers use the normal driveway for both mornings and afternoons. Getting creative with traffic laws may earn you a surprise gift from the police which you don't really want to receive. |
