School Improvement Plan

Objective 1: Reading

• 70% of test eligible students will "meet high standards" on the Reading portion of the FCAT (Based upon 2002 scoring methods and in keeping with the Title I components).
• Explore cross grade level reading/integrated subjects school wide
• Reinforce reading skills through technology via the Scholastic Reading Inventory, Computer Curriculum Corporation, FCAT explorer, and classroom presentation stations.
• Reinforce reading skills within music, art, media, and guidance curriculum
• Explore "Reading at the Home Program" that actively promotes parent participation
• Incorporate after school program such as tutorials reading club to reinforce the Sunshine State Standards
• Implement training of community tutors, volunteers, and paraprofessionals to assist in reading comprehension skills.
• Reinforce reading skill through daily sustained silent reading and teachers reading aloud.
