Message from Mr. Tierney
Dear John I. Leonard Students and Families,
It is difficult to believe, but the year is winding down quickly. Spring Break is over and we are preparing to say goodbye to our seniors. There is a tremendous amount of work to be done between now and the end of the year so it is important that students are in school every day. There is no time to waste!
We recently learned that our school grade repeated as a “B” last year. The grading process was very difficult for high schools last year so we are pleased to maintain our “B”. We saw a statistically significant increase in our graduation rate last year as well as big increases from many of our sub groups. This continued success is due to the hard work of the teachers, staff members and students. I’m very grateful for everyone’s efforts!
It is never too early to begin investing in your child’s future. Multiple studies have found that students with college savings are more likely to attend and finish college and that having a degree greatly improves lifetime earning potential. For example, a Georgetown University study estimates that a student with a bachelor’s degree can earn $1.6 million more in their lifetime than a student with only a high school diploma.
Our goals for next year are simple: Have more students take advanced and rigorous courses. Continue to increase our graduation rate for all students and maintain one of the safest, most organized and ascetically pleasing campuses in Palm Beach County. I’m confident that we will achieve our goals.
I want to thank the students, staff and parents of John I. Leonard High School. This is such an impressive school because of your dedication and hard work. I’m so proud to be a part of it.
John I. Leonard High School
