Welcome to Kindergarten

Welcome to Gove Elementary and Kindergarten! The following information will help you and your child make a smooth transition to school life.

1. Please send your child to school well rested and well fed (with a smile on their face!). We want school to be a positive experience for everyone! Research shows that the most important meal of the day is breakfast. Our cafeteria will be serving breakfast daily starting at 7:30am.

2. LUNCH: Lunches are available each day for $1.50. You or your child may pay for lunches in the cafeteria before the first bell (7:55 am) or put their lunch money in an envelope marked with their name and lunch number.

3. ATTENDANCE: Each day of school is filled with many enriching and important activities. Please have your child attend every day and be on time. School begins 7:55 am (first bell). Students are tardy any time after 8:00 am (second bell). After 8:15 am students must report to the front office and get a late pass before going to class. You will need to sign your child in with the office staff.

4. DISMISSAL: The children are released at the 2:35 pm bell. Bus riders will be escorted to the bus and parent pick-up children will be escorted to the parent pick-up area. Any changes in how your child goes home must be given in writing and be signed by a parent or guardian. Children will not be released to anyone different (friend, neighbor, or relative) without written permission. Please notify your child's teacher and the front office staff of any changes first thing in the morning. All individuals taking a child out of school must be on the student's registration form and show a valid driver's license or photo ID in order for the child to be released. If you need to pick up your child early, you must go to the front office and request to check your child out. Again, these procedures are for the safety and benefit of our children.

5. FINE ARTS: Please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for P.E.

Yes: sneakers, shorts, and pants.

No: sandals, dress shoes, dresses or skirts.

6. MEDICATION: If it is necessary for your child to take medication, for any reason at school, there is a doctor's form that must be completed first. The medication is kept locked in the clinic and will be administered by specific office personnel. No medication, not even cough drops, is allowed in the classroom. No exceptions!

7. Please keep all phone numbers and addresses current. This includes all home, work, and emergency numbers. Please send any changes to the classroom teacher and these will be forwarded to the office.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the school at 561.993.4042.
