The
fifth grade has a departmentalized, dynamic group of teachers prepared
to guide your child through an exciting year of all subject area curriculum.
Through the course of the year students will be exposed to a variety
of science concepts. They will be required to demonstrate mastery of
these concepts on the FCAT test for the first time during their 5th
grade year.
Math is a spiraling curriculum that requires mastery of basic math facts
and concepts before beginning the fifth grade. It is imperative to your
child's success in math that these concepts are in place and mastered.
Reading is an exciting adventure through novels and literature circles.
Non-fiction reading comprehension is taught through research-based strategies
proven to effectively teach this concept.
Spanish is the area that under girds and supports the entire fifth grade
curriculum. The students practice their Spanish skills while expanding
their knowledge and mastery of the Sunshine State Standards.
The fifth grade has a dynamite duo in the fifty - fifty classroom. These
students alternate days in Spanish and English. They experience the
same fifth grade curriculum that is delivered in the unique fifty -
fifty classroom setting.
